- That the taxation on cigarettes in Australia is excessive and not justified by public health costs. Excessive taxation also supports the billion dollar a year unregulated illegal tobacco industry, supporting organised crime to the detriment of smokers and the safety of members of the public.
- That private property owners (including club members) should decide whether and under what conditions smoking is allowed on their property, not the government.
- That plain packaging will not reduce smoking as lack of brand recognition will remove any incentive to produce safer cigarettes while encouraging competition based on price. Plain packaging will further support organised crime by removing legal products brand recognition.
